Meetings this week at the State Capitol aim to address the ongoing opioid crisis and discuss new strategies for treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What\u2019s Happening:<\/strong> The meetings, hosted by the House Study Committee on Alternatives to Opioids for Pain Management, will bring together health care experts, lawmakers, and the public. Discussions will focus on identifying effective non-opioid pain management solutions that could reduce reliance on prescription opioids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When and Where:<\/strong> The sessions are open to the public and will be held on the schedule below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Wednesday, Dec. 11:<\/strong> 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Thursday, December 12:<\/strong> 10 a.m. to noon<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both events take place in Room 606 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building, 18 Capitol Square S.W., <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"\/city\/Atlanta\"   title=\"Atlanta\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"304\">Atlanta<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why It Matters:<\/strong> The opioid epidemic has deeply impacted Georgia families, with addiction and overdose deaths remaining a critical public health challenge.
