{"id":17115,"date":"2020-08-02T08:31:17","date_gmt":"2020-08-02T12:31:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=17115"},"modified":"2020-08-02T08:31:24","modified_gmt":"2020-08-02T12:31:24","slug":"26-year-old-drowns-in-ocmulgee-river","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/news\/26-year-old-drowns-in-ocmulgee-river\/","title":{"rendered":"26-year-old drowns in Ocmulgee River"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>MACON &#8212; A 26-year-old Mississippi man drowned in the Ocmulgee River in Bibb County Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bibb County Sheriff\u2019s Office, along with the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department, responded to Frank Amerson Park at the Ocmulgee River regarding the drowning at 10:23 a.m Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to witnesses, there was a group walking the trails that decided to go for a swim. Andre J. Armstrong of Jackson Mississippi, started having trouble in the water. The four other people with him attempted to help, but were unable to rescue him from the river.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Macon-Bibb County Fire Department dive team was able to locate and recover Armstrong&#8217;s body.
