{"id":17053,"date":"2020-07-29T18:41:43","date_gmt":"2020-07-29T22:41:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=17053"},"modified":"2020-07-29T18:41:45","modified_gmt":"2020-07-29T22:41:45","slug":"spike-in-covid-19-cases-causes-events-in-snellville-to-be-canceled-through-october","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=17053","title":{"rendered":"Spike in COVID-19 cases causes events in Snellville to be canceled through October"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>SNELLVILLE &#8212; The recent surge in coronavirus cases in Gwinnett County and throughout the state has caused the Snellville to cancel all of its Tourism and Trade events through October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Canceled events include the Snellville Concert Series, Star Spangled Labor Day, Taste of Snellville, and the city&#8217;s Fall Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Snellville Farmer&#8217;s Market and Food Truck Friday events will continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDue to the increase in COVID-19 cases and rise in hospitalizations, we feel it is important to keep the health and safety of our citizens and visitors first and foremost,\u201d Snellville Tourism and Trade Executive Director Kelly McAloon said. \u201cWe feel that we cannot properly social distance at our concerts and larger events and are taking the advice of Gwinnett Newton Rockdale Health Department doctors who suggest not to have large gatherings of people, which can spread the virus, even outdoors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of Wednesday, Gwinnett County had 16,255 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 1,886 hospitalization. A total of 223 people in Gwinnett County have died from coronavirus since the pandemic began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Statewide, coronavirus has claimed the lives of 3,642 people, there have been 178,323 cases, 17,964 hospitalizations and 3,301 ICU admissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPlease do your part, wear a mask, social distance and wash your hands,\u201d McAloon said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below are the dates and events that have bene canceled in Snellville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Snellville Concert Series (Aug. 22, Sept. 26 and Oct. 10)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Star Spangled Labor Day (Sept. 5)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taste of Snellville (Sept. 12)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fall Festival (Oct. 24)<\/p>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SNELLVILLE &#8212; The recent surge in coronavirus cases in Gwinnett County and throughout the state has caused the Snellville to cancel all of its Tourism and Trade events through October.
