Northside Hospital is asking those who have had COVID-19 and recovered from it to consider donating plasma to help patients who are currently infected by the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As positive COVID-19 cases continue to surge across the state, demand for convalescent plasma to help patients fight the virus has never been higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOnce the plasma\u2019s infused into a person with an active infection it gives them an immediate immunity against the virus,\u201d said Dr. Kent Holland with the Northside Hospital BMT Program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you or someone you know has recovered from COVID-19, Northside Hospital asks that you consider donating plasma to help treat Georgia’s sickest patients. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Atlanta<\/a> Blood Services is collecting convalescent plasma donations from people who have had a lab confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 and have fully recovered from a COVID-19 infection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Statewide there have been 156,588 confirmed cases of coronavirus. Hospitalizations have increased dramatically in July. On July 1, the state had 11,275 hospitalizations for COVID-19.
