{"id":16460,"date":"2020-07-10T12:32:54","date_gmt":"2020-07-10T16:32:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=16460"},"modified":"2023-09-24T15:47:01","modified_gmt":"2023-09-24T19:47:01","slug":"705000-worth-of-drugs-seized-in-major-drug-trafficking-bust-in-north-georgia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/?p=16460","title":{"rendered":"$705,000 worth of drugs seized in major drug trafficking bust in North Georgia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>An 11-month investigation involving local, state and federal authorities seized $705,000 worth of illegal drugs and landed 48 people in jail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From August 2019 to the present, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation\u2019s Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation\u2019s Major Offender\u2019s Task Force in conjunction with the Hall County District Attorney\u2019s Office Force has been conducting an investigation into the alleged drug trafficking organization of 43-year-old Luther Troy Summerfield, 40-year-old Alejandro Ceja-Solano, and others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the GBI, during the course of the investigation, agents learned that Summerfield purchased and distributed methamphetamine from Ceja-Solano. Information obtained from numerous hours of investigation also revealed that Summerfield traveled to Ceja-Solano\u2019s residence to obtain drugs and traveled to the metro <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"\/city\/Atlanta\"   title=\"Atlanta\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">Atlanta<\/a> area to obtain heroin and methamphetamine, either facilitated by Ceja-Solano, or another source of supply.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout the investigation, police executed approximately 12 search warrants yielding the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Approximately 50 kilograms of methamphetamine<\/li><li>Approximately \u00bd kilogram of heroin<\/li><li>Approximately 20 firearms<\/li><li>Approximately $70,000 in cash<\/li><li>Approximately 6 vehicles<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/pic-1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"16462\" data-full-url=\"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/pic-1-scaled.jpg\" data-link=\"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/?attachment_id=16462\" class=\"wp-image-16462\"\/><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/pic-3-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"16463\" data-full-url=\"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/pic-3-scaled.jpg\" data-link=\"https:\/\/thegeorgiasun.com\/?attachment_id=16463\" class=\"wp-image-16463\"\/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Although numerous arrests have been made and evidence seized, the investigation continues, and additional arrests are expected.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Agencies involved in the investigation: <\/strong>The Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office is a multi-agency unit that consists of the following agencies: White County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Lumpkin County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Towns County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Banks County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Habersham County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Stephens County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Rabun County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Jackson County Sheriff\u2019s Office Franklin County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Fannin County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Gilmer County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Cleveland Police Department, Lavonia Police Department, Toccoa Police Department, the Georgia National Guard Counter Drug Task Force, the Department of Public Safety, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FBI\u2019S Major Offender\u2019s Task Force consists of the Gainseville Police Department, the Georgia State Patrol, the Forsyth County Sheriff\u2019s Office, the Lumpkin County Sheriff\u2019s Office the Georgia Department of Corrections, the GBI, the Georgia Department of Community Supervision, Winder Police Department, and the Stephens County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"\/city\/Alto\"   title=\"Alto\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">Alto<\/a> Police Department assisted with this investigation as well.<\/p>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An 11-month investigation involving local, state and federal authorities seized $705,000 worth of illegal drugs and landed 48 people in jail.
