Alpharetta Women's Half Marathon & 5K set for Oct. 24

ALPHARETTA — The Alpharetta Women’s Half Marathon & 5K Race presented by Altra Running is set for Sunday, Oct. 24, starting and finishing at the family-friendly atmosphere of Avalon.

Over 1,000 racers from 18 states have already registered to run the 2021 race. The Alpharetta Women’s Half Marathon & 5K Race presented by Altra Running offers options for serious runners to beginners and walkers.

The race will kick off at with a wave start system at 7 a.m.

The racecourse will take runners on a foot tour of the fall scenery in Alpharetta with the race ending at Avalon. All pre-registered participants will receive an event shirt, finisher medal, Alpharetta Women’s goodie bag, bib tag and post-race food and refreshments.

Race entry fees for both the Half Marathon and 5K event started at one dollar and increase from that amount as slots sell out, so early pre-registration is encouraged. The highest online registration rate for the Half Marathon event is $110, and for the 5K is $50. A portion of the proceeds will go to the American Heart Association.

The Alpharetta Women’s Half Marathon and 5K is presented by Altra Running and is produced by 10xEM, LLC who has partnered with Avalon and the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau on this event. This is a USA Track & Field certified event.

“It is exciting to be bringing the Alpharetta Women’s Half Marathon & 5K Race back for its third year,” said Nick Lynch, president of 10xEM, LLC. “Over a thousand female athletes will hit the ground running beginning in Avalon and traverse the winding roads of Alpharetta to determine who will take home bragging rights for fastest woman in the Southeast!”

Race packet pickup will be available on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Big Peach Running Company at 5530 Windward Parkway in Alpharetta and lululemon Avalon at 5120 Avalon Blvd in Alpharetta.

The Alpharetta Women’s Half Marathon & 5K Race presented by Altra Running is projected to attract over 1,000 female athletes to Alpharetta, Ga. The weekend event will draw participants to the city’s 30 modern and upscale hotels, more than 200 restaurants, over 250 shops and endless entertainment options.
