Motorists traveling on I-85 will experience overnight lane closures this weekend as part of a project to replace pavement markings on I-85 from its Brookwood split interchange with I-75 in Fulton County to just north of SR 155/Clairmont Road in DeKalb County.

This safety project will repair or replace existing pavement markings in the project area with high-reflectivity striping, designed to enhance drivers’ visibility at night and in inclement weather conditions.

Weather and on-site conditions permitting, multiple lanes will be closed in two-mile increments on I-85 northbound between 17th Street and SR 155/Clairmont Road each weekend night  beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, September 10 through 4 a.m. the following mornings.

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, these closures will help ensure safety for drivers and work crews as they restripe all the bridges and overpasses within the project limits.

Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through the project area during the project work hours.
