Arrest made in death of two-year-old Trinity Kyle

The Gwinnett Police Homicide Unit has made an arrest in the death of a 2 year old girl at the Quality Inn Hotel at 3500 Venture Parkway in Duluth. The mother’s boyfriend, 24-year-old Malik Kyhree Kennedy has been charged with one count of Felony Murder, one count of 1st degree Cruelty to Children and held without bond at the Gwinnett County Jail.

According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, at about 5:42 p.m., Rosie Marie Kyles 911 and said her 2-year-old daughter, Trinity, was not breathing or waking up from her nap. Kennedy was watching Trinity while Kyles was working.

Firefighters attempted to revive the child but were unsuccessful. According to police, Trinity had several bruises on the cheeks with finger and fingernail impressions, a swollen eye, swollen forehead and bruises on the body.

On May 3, an autopsy was performed on the Trinity. According to the autopsy, Trinity sustained a closed head injury to the back of the head. The Gwinnett County Medical Examiner determined the manner of death to be a homicide. 

Kennedy is being charged with Felony Murder, 1st degree Cruelty to Children and held without bond at the Gwinnett County Jail.
