Two arrested after child sex trafficking victim escapes

SOUTH FULTON — The South Fulton Police Department has arrested two people after they say a child sex trafficking victim escaped her captors.

After a lengthy investigation, the South Fulton Police Department arrested two suspects tied to a sex-trafficking case involving a juvenile female victim.

According to police, the investigation revealed the juvenile victim had been trafficked and beaten before she was eventually able to escape. On Thursday, March 25, 2021,

South Metro SWAT executed a search warrant at a residence on Swansea Court on Thursday. Two people were arrested on warrants for their alleged involvement in the sex trafficking of the child victim. 25-year-old Ashanti Coles was charged with Battery, Aggravated Assault, Trafficking a Person for Labor or Sexual Servitude, Pandering Person Under 18 YOA, Cruelty to Children – 1st Degree, Pimping Person Under 18 YOA, Rape, and Aggravated Battery.

Wesley Locus, age 44, was charged with Cruelty to Children – 2nd Degree.

“It’s painful to hear stories about our young people being victimized through the deplorable crimes involving human trafficking,” said South Fulton Police Chief Keith Meadows. “I am so proud of the men and women I serve with whom are relentless in their pursuit to bring these individuals to justice.”

The accused are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
