Georgia man accused of stealing $60,000 from parked car

The Gwinnett County Police Department is actively looking for Geovorris Rowland, who is accused of stealing more that $60,000 from a parked car.

The owner of the car is a business owner from Gwinnett County. Police believe he was followed from a bank in Doraville after taking out a large deposit.

The incident happened Feb. 4. The business owner left the bank and drove to The Forum at 3930 Jones Bridge Road in Peachtree Corners, where he left the cash from the bank under a seat.

According to police, a white Ford F-150 pulled up next to the victim’s car and a man got out. A witness in the area saw the man looking into the business owner’s car and decided to film what was happening because it looked suspicious.

After the witness started filming, the man smashed the glass of the business owner’s car window. The suspect reached in the car and quickly stole the money and fled in the F-150.

Detectives say they were able to use the video of the incident to identify the F-150 and Rowland as one of the people involved in this theft.

Investigators have obtained warrants for Rowland for Entering Auto with Intent to Commit a Theft. Detectives are still trying to identify the other person in the vehicle seen in the surveillance.

Rowland’s whereabouts are currently unknown.
