Georgia deputies arrest bank robbery suspect

MACON — A suspect in the robbery of a Wells Fargo Bank that took place Monday in Bibb County has been arrested.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested 30-year-old Joshua Ryan Chambley of Macon, for the armed robbery of Wells Fargo.

Chambley was taken into custody just after 4:40 p.m. at the Sunoco Gas station at 3910 Arkwright Road. Deputies approached Chambley inside the store.

Officials say Chambley attempted to flee the store and after a brief scuffle with deputies he was detained and checked by EMS. Chambley was then transported to the Sheriff’s Office Investigation Unit to be interviewed .

After the interview Chambley was transported to the Law Enforcement Center and booked on charges of Armed Robbery. Chambley does not have a bond at this time. The cash taken during this incident was recovered.

Also during the course of this investigation deputies served outstanding warrants out of Twiggs County on 39-year-old Gregory Dugger and 33-year-old Mellissa Godfrey for outstanding warrants out of Macon, Byron and Jones County.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, Chambley entered the bank and passed a note demanding money from the clerk. He received an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the bank on foot. No one was injured during the incident.
