Former Southwest Georgia police officer charged with child molestation

ANDERSONVILLE — A 69-year-old former Southwest Georgia police officer has been arrested and charged with child molestation.

On Wednesday, Sept/ 9, 2020, The Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested 69-year-old Robert Alexander Scott and charged him with two counts of sexual battery, two counts of child molestation, and two counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes.

The charges came after the GBI executed a search warrant at Scott’s home.

On March 13, the GBI was asked by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to investigate allegations of child molestation by Scott.

Scott is a former law enforcement officer and has worked for several agencies in the southwest Georgia area.
