Centennial Park Fourth of July Celebration canceled

ATLANTA — The popular Fourth of July Celebration at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Georgia World Congress Center Authority announced yesterda that it will forgo hosting its annual July 4th celebration at Centennial Olympic Park as Atlanta and the nation continue to take the necessary precautions to slow and stop the spread of COVID-19.

“For the past 22 years, we have proudly hosted the Southeast’s biggest and best Fourth of July fireworks show,” said Frank Poe, GWCCA’s executive director. “The financial impact of COVID-19 resulted in the tough decision to cancel this year’s event. Watching fireworks in Centennial Olympic Park is an Atlanta tradition and we look forward to continuing that in 2021.”

As of June 25, Fulton County had 6,163 cases of COVID-19, 1,027 hospitalizations and 309 deaths from the virus.
