Savannah Police Department recovers stolen packages

SAVANNAH — Police in Savannah recovered four packages they say were stolen from an apartment complex on East Victory Drive during a routine traffic stop last week.

According to the Savannah Police Department, on April 6 at about 5:29 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a white-colored Chevrolet Malibu after the officer observed the vehicle in the middle of the roadway at Bulloch Street between West 40th Street and West 41st Street.

When the officer conducted the initial traffic stop, the driver, a 29-year-old man, threw a box out of the window. When confronted with this, the driver denied throwing the package.

A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted due to a K9 alerting on the vehicle. The officer also observed what appeared to be marijuana residue on the rear seat.

Upon searching the vehicles, at least four packages were located inside the vehicle — all were found to have been stolen from an apartment complex in the 2200 Block of East Victory Drive. Additionally, there was a loaded pistol inside of the vehicle.
