Construction on I-285 could make your morning commute slower this week

The Gist: Bridge construction will close the two left lanes on I-285 West Bound this week from Exit 28 at Peachtree Dunwoody Road to Exit 5 at Roswell Road.

Timing: According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, construction will begin nightly at 9 p.m. and will continue to 9 a.m. Construction will take place Monday, Feb. 18 through Friday, Feb. 22. While the lanes will be open during most of the day, keep in mind Atlanta’s rush hour begins well before 9 a.m., so this will affect your commute.

More information: Exact dates may change due to weather or other factors. GDOT is warning motorists to reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, pay attention, and watch for workers.

Before heading out, you can get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.

Weather: Rain is expected every day this week.
