Cityhood Scuffle: Lawyers for the City of Stockbridge have filed a lawsuit against the state of Georgia, according to the Associated Press. The lawsuit alleges that by carving a new city out of parts of the existing city of Stockbridge, voting rights are being violated and the city’s ability to meet its financial obligations are being impaired.

End of an Era: After more than 50 years in the Antiques and Interiors business, Jane J. Marsden Antiques and Interiors will be closing up shop.  Founded by ADAC Hall of Fame interior designer Jane Marsden, who passed away in 2014, Marsden Antiques is one of the Southeast’s oldest and most renowned dealers of fine English, French, Japanese and Chinese export porcelain, French and English 17th and 18th century furniture as well as chandeliers, mantles and other decorative items. Marsden began business as the Brownstone in 1966 in a small location off Peachtree Road in Buckhead. An Inventory reduction sale will begin Sept. 4.

Be careful at the gas pump: An outing with her grandchildren turned into a harrowing experience for a Lithonia grandmother. According to the Associated Press, a 61-year-old grandmother is in critical condition after a four-car pileup at the gas station where she was pumping gas left her pinned against a gas pump while her grandchildren looked on. The grandchildren were not harmed in the crash.

Speaking of gas stations: Police raided a southeast Atlanta gas station and found drugs hiding in the coffee maker. According to WSB-TV, officers found evidence of illegal cash payouts, drugs and illegal alcohol sales at the Chevron station on Lakewood Way in Atlanta.

Sex Trafficking Ring Busted: A sex trafficking ring was busted at a hotel in Marietta Monday after a 15-year-old girl called police to tell them she had been forced to have sex with multiple men in a hotel room. According to the Marietta Daily Journal, police arrested four suspects ranging in age from 17 to 26 years old who were allegedly involved in the sex-trafficking operation.

Your commute may get more expensive: If you thought back to school traffic was putting a damper on your commute, the State Road and Tollway Authority is doing the same. According to the AJC, the authority recently waived the caps on some of the state’s express lanes.
