If You Live in Rockdale County, Your Property Taxes May Be Increasing

The Rockdale County Board of Commissioners has tentatively adopted a 2018 property tax rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 9.85 percent.

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase at the Assembly Hall at 901 Main Street in Conyers July 24 at 10 a.m.  Additional public hearings on the tax increase will be held July 24 at 6 p.m. and July 31 at 6 p.m.

This planned increase will result in a tax rate of 20.19 mills, an increase of 1.81 mills.

The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $100,000 is about $72.40 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $300,000 is about $217.20.

The board will vote on the property tax increase August 7 at 10 a.m. at the Assembly Hall.
