Dig out your swimsuit and grab a towel because all Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation aquatic facilities open for summer starting May 26 for Memorial Day weekend.
Most of the aquatic centers and leisure play pools offer fun features such as aquatic playgrounds, giant water slides, beach entry into the pool, picnic areas and more.

The Splish Splash Interactive Fountain is a new feature at E.E. Robinson Park in Sugar Hill. The free, interactive fountain will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., except for Wednesdays when it is open from noon to 8 p.m. The fountain is unsupervised and may be closed at any time for maintenance or weather conditions.
To ensure everyone is safe and enjoys the water, the Parks and Recreation staff offer private, semi-private and group swim lessons for all ages.
The county offers the following tips for a relaxing and fun day at any pool:
- Never leave children unattended in a pool or spa and always watch them when they are in or near water
- Teach children basic water safety tips
- Keep children away from pool drains, pipes and other openings to avoid entrapment.
- Have a telephone close by when you or your family use a pool or spa
- If a child is missing, look for him or her in the pool or spa first
Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation is also seeking lifeguards for all pool locations, and will offer training to obtain lifeguard certification. Contact or 770-237-5647 for more information.
